Writing Reflection #8

Newspaper Blackout Poetry was very interesting! I've never done something like that before so I found it to be very cool. There's so many different types of poetry out in this world that I have no clue even exist! Just like newspaper blackouts! I thought it was interesting to be able to completely change an article to something completely different! I did think it was a bit challenging to find an article with a good enough title and then to try and find words to make some sort of poem to match the title. I also thought it was hard to try and make it look good and neat. My final product of my newspaper blackouts came out looking ugly in my opinion. I wish I could've made it look more appealing to look at! The last thing that I found kind of difficult was trying to find a topic that could go with each poem. A lot of the time I would have two that went together but I couldn't find a third! Eventually I made it work though. So I was proud of myself for that. Overall I had a good experience with this new way of poetry! :)

Book: The perks of being a wallflower
Author: Stephen Chbosky
Pages Read: 152-157

This week I didn't get much reading done. I only really got through a few pages. But I'm still learning lots from this novel. I'm starting to think that maybe the main character Charlie is bisexual or something because he has this friend named Patrick and he told him that if he was gay he'd date him. And he spends a lot of time with him also. But he's had a girlfriend and has a very big crush on Patrick's sister Sam. So I'm not really sure. But I guess I'll find out! I wonder how Charlie is going to end up at the end of the book. If it will be a happy ending or a sad ending. I still think that there's more drama in the upcoming chapters because the novel has been a bit regular. But then again maybe that's what this book is meant to be.. just a normal book about some kids life. Nothing special or exciting.. just everyday life and struggles of a young teenage boy.

- I chose to comment on this blog because when I came across this picture I was very confused. I can't figure out why there is still one dollar missing.. It just doesn't make any sense!

- I chose to comment on this blog because I think it's interesting to find that someone also enjoys thinking back on old memories and looking through old pictures of their childhood! It's always a good feeling when you find that one picture that makes you giggle and smile.

Reading Reflection #7

Book: The perks of being a wall flower
Author: Stephen Chbosky
Pages Read: 115-152

I enjoyed the last reading class we got because I got a lot of reading done. So far the main character in my book has been going through a lot he went from having a lot of friends to having none. I think Charlie suffers from depression because he's always talking about how there's something "wrong" with him. Since he lost all of his friends due to an incident with a girl. He's been getting that "feeling" of sadness and feeling very alone. I kind of feel bad for him at times. Luckily for Charlie the tables have turned. Right at the end of the class I got to a part in the book where Charlie now has his friends back. Crazy how things can change so fast and go back to "normal" in an instant. I can relate to that. I'm still liking this book very much, but I do feel that sometimes it's a bit slow. Charlie will be talking about stuff that seems a bit boring to me, like his books or something. I wish there was more excitement in this book! The most excitement so far has been his sister's pregnancy that she ended up getting rid of anyways.. I'm excited to see what happens next in Charlies life.

- I chose to comment on this blog because I liked the message the person was trying to put out there. That friends are better than drugs! I believe in this message because friends will always be there..but drugs will always tear you down.

- I chose to comment on this blog because I really enjoy the picture she put up as a personal addition. I think that the picture should be something that people should live. When you judge people I think it stems deeper into their own personal insecurities. When you smile, people will smile back!

-  I chose to comment on this blog because I liked the picture she drew of all the different places she's been to. I think that's super cool that she had the opportunity to visit so many amazing places. I've always wanted to go somewhere like Hawaii!

So far I think commenting on other peoples blogs are fun. It's interesting to look at what other students are posting. It also helps to give me some ideas on what to post! I think a good comment is something that will make the person smile. Also if you maybe ask them a question if there's something you'd like to know! A bad comment is if you say something rude or negative to the person. I haven't yet received a comment on my blog but if I were to get one I'd be excited to read it and see if my blog interests someone!

Reading Reflection #6

Book: The perks of being a wallflower
Author: Stephen Chbosky
Pages Read:100-115

I'll be honest. I haven't really been reading my book that often. But I got back into in last Friday. Now I remember why I like this book so much. Even though I haven't kept up with this book, as soon I picked it up I enjoyed every last word I read. Charlie the main character is going through the craziness of high-school. The last chapter I read he was experiencing LSD. Now he's going on  his first date. He's never been on a date before so he's real nervous. It's interesting to read about how he's going to handle himself on the date and where things will go! I've noticed that Charlie seems to give in to things. I didn't peg his character to be the kind to do drugs and smoke cigarettes, not that there's a certain kind of people who do that stuff. Because I know all kinds of people do their own thing without people ever finding out. He's just quiet and thinks more than he talks. He may be those things but he is a brave person. He likes to get out there and try new things and make new friends even if it's risky. That's something that I like about him. Maybe I can learn from this character.

Writing Reflection #5

I think blogging has been quite fun and interesting. It’s nice to do something different in class for a change, instead of having a notebook full of different writing assignments. I’m open to exploring new social media forms but I don’t have one in mind! I tried searching up some popular social media websites but I didn’t find much!  Fan fiction seems to be like a pretty cool thing. I searched it up and I think I know what it is now. It’d be fun to kind of elaborate on a good book your reading maybe you want to add something to your favorite part to make it more exciting! Also it’s cool because you get to share your ideas with other fans online!

Personal Additions #3

At the end of the school year all the students stress out about writing exams. It's probably the most stressful time in the whole school year! I think that students should not have to write exams at all. I'm not just saying this because I'm a lazy student who doesn't want to do any work. I think since us students work very hard all year completing assignments, projects, writing quizzes, tests, unit tests is enough! Our mark is recorded from all the effort we put in. That should be our indicator on how well we did in a certain course not how well we did on an exam at the end of the year. For me, when I go in to write an exam I get nervous and anxious sitting in the big gym with a certain amount of time to finish 5000000 multiple choice questions plus long answers. I'm just the kind of person who doesn't do well on big exams. There are lots of other people who are the same so I think that all our hard work we do throughout the school year is enough! I feel that exams are a waste of time and it would make school a lot better. and less stressful!!
